What is Robotics?
Day by day, we hear the words robotics and coding more and more. Especially in schools, coding and robotics workshops started to be established and trainings were given on these subjects. We have given information about coding in the previous pages. So what does robotics mean?
Electronic devices, machines, robots and similar tools are used in all areas of our lives and are becoming more and more common. Let's call these tools mechanisms for convenience.
These mechanisms consist of many physical parts, and all processes from the design of these parts to how the mechanism will work by programming are included in the branch of robotics.
The most important difference between robots and other mechanisms is that robots can make their own decisions. By detecting various effects in the outside world with their sensors, they can perform different actions in different situations. How the robot behaves in which situation depends entirely on its software.
The ability of the robot to make decisions is actually the skill of the programmer.
The aim of the studies in robotics education in schools is not to produce robots from scratch, but to gain different abilities by programming them.
The most important purpose of robotics education is to provide individuals with skills such as analytical thinking, research, problem solving, questioning, inventing, producing, and developing projects at a younger age, and to make them love engineering, technology, software and similar fields.
Of course, there is no rule that the person who receives these trainings will necessarily be an engineer or a software developer. The skills mentioned above will provide significant benefits to people in every aspect of their life.
What is STEM?
When we do research on robotics and coding education, we come across statements such as STEM, STEAM, STEM+A, especially in schools where this education is given. These expressions consist of the initials of the following English words.
S: Science
T: Technology
E: Engineering
M: Math
A: Art
The content of these trainings varies according to the age and level of the students. While some courses provide coding-based training, some of them cover both disassembly, assembly, etc., as well as programming, by using tools such as microcontrollers, sensors, leds, motors in Arduinho workshops.
What is the Cost of Robotic Education?
Today, many companies produce robotic sets to be used for educational purposes. Arduino starter kits are generally around 75TL.
So what is this arduino?
